Afstudeerbeurs Gent 2024
Accompanied by my friend Britt and my mom, we set off for Ghent to attend the graduation exhibition, Afstudeerbeurs. Before arriving at Flanders Expo, we made a brief pit stop to grab some food. Upon parking and entering the Expo, we registered and received name cards.
Our first destination was the HoGent booth, as Britt was keen on exploring further study options for next year. Adjacent to the HoGent stand, I spotted Howest, my own school, and took the opportunity to greet one of our teachers.
As we embarked on our tour among the various company stalls, I realized I should have researched the companies I was interested in beforehand. Consequently, we found ourselves aimlessly wandering and guessing whether each company aligned with our fields of interest. Many sought general IT skills rather than specialized expertise like cyber security, while others were specifically looking for software engineers, a role I do not fill.
Although we stopped by several organizations, none particularly stood out to me. While I entertain the possibility of working in law enforcement in the future, I aim to gain experience in the private sector first. However, I couldn't resist stopping at one company's stall solely because they were offering ice cream.
After a day filled with walking and gathering information for Britt, we made our way back home.
